Has anyone else ever burst into tears reading from a children's Bible about the story of the time that the sun & the moon stood still? This girl has!
This morning I woke up feeling overwhelmed. Overwhelmed by the fact that there's a million things I want to fit into each day and feeling like my time is so unorganized and like I'm just flying by the seat of my pants half the time. There's so many things I want to accomplish, so many things I want to excel in. And yet I feel like I'm floundering half the time. One friend described it as survival mode, which I totally understand. Another friend refers to it as "jack of all trades, master of none". Either way, I get it. And today it got me. I was bummed this morning.
So, I sit down to do our morning routine with the girls: calendar time, Bible verse song, and read a story from the children's Bible. This morning just happened to be "The sun and the moon stand still".
I got halfway through the story and the Holy Spirit hit me like a ton of bricks. I just started crying, couldn't read through my tears, and immediately realized this was just for me!
Kiley, of course, teared up with me because that's what she does every time I cry and Kamden snuggled up a little closer. When I was finally able to finish the story, Kiley asked why I was crying. It was exciting being able to explain that just like Joshua I can ask God to make the sun and the moon stand still. He may not do it in a literal sense, but He sure will help me organize my time in such a way that it feels like the world stopped just for me.
And that's just the God I serve! The Only One capable of making the sun & the moon stand still!
On the day the Lord gave the Amorites over to the Israelites, Joshua spoke to the Lord in the presence of Israel: “Sun, stand still over Gibeon, and moon, over the Valley of Aijalon.” And the sun stood still and the moon stopped until the nation took vengeance on its enemies.
